Your Support Team

Our labor and delivery nurses are highly trained in all areas surrounding childbirth, including natural childbirth to pain management and neonatal resuscitation. We maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio during labor, and 1:1 during the final stages.

Designed in collaboration with Stamford Hospital doctors and nurses, our labor and delivery unit make the process of childbirth as comfortable as possible - but it is not just about creating a beautiful setting in which to have a baby. Stamford Hospital is unique in providing the optimal combination of medical expertise, advanced technology and 24/7 in-house attending physician presence in labor anesthesia, obstetrics and pediatrics - plus three board-certified neonatologists - to handle even the most complex deliveries. No one has to wait for an on-call specialist to arrive.

We offer tours of the labor and delivery floor as well as the Mother-Baby Unit, conducted by our nurses, who welcome your questions and visits. Our labor and delivery nurses also teach childbirth classes and offer support in breastfeeding and other practical matters surrounding recovery and care of your newborn.
