Prenatal Education
Basics of Infant Care
Presented by registered nurses from our Mother/Baby Unit, this program is designed to answer the many questions new parents have about infant care. Included in the demonstration and discussion are infant feeding, bathing, dressing, soothing, sleep patterns and safety. Class is held on Tuesday evenings.

Preparation for Breastfeeding Class
Breastfeeding your baby can be a rewarding experience. Studies show that breast milk provides the best nutrition for your baby, offers health benefits that are extremely valuable for infant growth and development, and is also advantageous to your health as a new mother and in years to come. Stamford Hospital has on staff three lactation consultants (all certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants) to provide support and instruction so that all new mothers who want to breastfeed are able to succeed.

VBAC (Vaginal birth After Cesarean)
This class is for women who have had a previous cesarean birth, and with their physician's approval, want to try to deliver vaginally. It includes a discussion with a labor and delivery nurse. The course covers the risks and benefits of both cesarean and VBAC, with the aim of helping parents to have realistic expectation and to make an informed decision. Dates and times vary.

Prenatal Fitness
Stamford Hospital offers a wide variety of prenatal fitness classes at our Health & Fitness Institute (located at the Tully Health Center).

Tours
Maternity Tours: Women and couples are welcome to tour our facilities to see what the experience of delivering at Stamford Hospital's Hollander Family Birthing Center will be like. The tour is recommended for all expectant families in the area, whether you want to deliver here or merely want to comparison shop. In addition to having an overview of the many support services, you will visit our spacious labor and delivery suites and recovery rooms. You'll have a tour of the postpartum unit, with all private room—each with a large private bath with shower, lovely decor and polish hardwood staff. Guided tours take place on Tuesday evenings.

Sibling Tours: Our child-friendly tour provides an opportunity for brothers- and sister-to-be to visit the Mother/Baby Unit prior to Mom's admission to the hospital. The tours are conducted on Wednesday evenings.
